God’s Word is ALIVE, it’s POWERFUL, it’s EFFECTUAL…it’s PENETRATING and reaches right into our bones and marrow! It’s healing to our bodies! It’s RENEWING, it’s RESTORATIVE, it’s changing us from one degree of glory to the next!
We are destined to be conformed into the likeness of Jesus…what a destiny! To be like Him…to take on His thoughts, His way of doing things. To operate out of our spirits instead of dominated by the flesh. What a victory He bought for us!
Romans 8:3 says Jesus came to do what the law could NOT do, itself being weakened through the flesh, He came to subdue and deprive sin of its power over ALL that will accept the sacrifice! Take it, accept it, receive what Christ did FOR you. You and I could never have kept the law, the weakness of the law was our flesh! No-one could keep it, doing all the do’s, don’t-ing all the don’ts! So Christ entered the scene and did FOR us what we could not do for ourselves! What mercy! What grace! And we only need to ACCEPT His sacrifice and give Him room to work IN us both to will and to do of His good pleasure, by letting His Word work in us.
His Word is a seed, and must be planted in the soil of our hearts. Like any seed, the harvest of that seed doesn’t look anything like the seed itself. You’ve seen those seed packets…not one of them shows the picture of the seed on the outside. It shows the picture of what you’ll harvest!
As we CONTINUALLY behold in God’s Word, like a mirror, it shows us what we are becoming! Our minds are being renewed as it washes old thought patterns, our bodies are learning to listen to our spirit man and be dominated by the spirit!
Romans 8:12-13 gives us the good news…”you no longer HAVE to live by the dictates of the flesh, but you are free now to live by the promptings of the spirit in newness of life!” I love the Message translation, “don’t you see that we don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us, nothing at all, The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!”
Romans 8:14 says “all who are led by the spirit of God are called the sons and daughters of God.”
Don’t settle for the “do-it-yourself” life. Abide in God’s Word, get comfortable with it, and settle down to live by it. Read it, see it, pray it, say it…the power is IN the word to transform you. Soon you won’t be living in the confines of a cocoon, struggling for a new life. God’s word will make the changes in you as God WORKS IN YOU to will and to do of His good pleasure. Lean in, surrender….don’t decide, discover His plan and yield to His promptings, urges, ideas, and thoughts. You have a GUIDE INSIDE! He will lead you into the truth and that truth will set you free!
God is doing a NEW thing, NOW it springs forth! Will you make ROOM for Him? How? By making more ROOM for God’s Word in your life, It’s time to plant the biggest garden you've ever planted…let His promises paint the picture for you of what your harvest will be if you keep sowing the seed of His word in your heart!
